Thank you for visiting Crazy Moose Art Glass. Just a little about us, Crazy Moose is an outlet for me to sell the glass beads and such that I’ve been making for the last few years. My “studio” is in the basement of our home, this is where the fun happens. I use a propane fueled torch with pressurized oxygen to melt the glass onto a stainless steel rod, called a mandrel. Most of the glass I use is from an Italian manufacturer called Effetre Murano.
Another popular glass manufacturer is CIM or Creation is Messy. Many glass artists use a combination of manufactures, for example CIM clear glass may perform better for some uses than Effetre. I personally prefer Effetre glass for the most part because they keeps the same basic colors, and names them as the colors they are. For me, this is important because I have short-term memory loss and memorizing a name not associated with the color is near impossible, like “Alley Cat” (a yellowish-orange) and “Electric Avenue” (a blue opal).
